Position Summary

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic Affairs, the Executive Director for Professional E-Learning Programs will be responsible for research and identification of market opportunities to provide non-credit certificates in professional development for employees in the Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences industries. This will also entail performing program feasibility assessments, business development, organizational coordination, marketing, fiscal accountability, supervision and evaluation of additional continuing and professional studies at ACPHS, ensuring that these initiatives support ACPHS’s strategic priorities. The Executive Director for Professional E-Learning Programs will work in partnership with the academic Deans, staff in the Center of Innovative Learning, Director of CEs for Pharmacists, faculty, Pharmaceutical Companies and key stakeholders to develop new programs that expand the student base, foster awareness in the community, and represent the interests of ACPHS. This position also involves working with outside vendors that may help marketing to their clients.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree, an understanding of how higher education institutions function and significant experience of the operations within corporations, preferably big Pharmaceutical Companies. The incumbent will have a proven ability to lead the development of creative and compelling professional programs that are in tune with demographic, social and market trends. The position requires exceptional managerial and entrepreneurial skills. The Executive Director will exhibit outstanding social awareness and relationship management skills in order to create and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external partners.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
• Identify needs and gaps in professional development programs for employees within Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences related Industries;
• Identify opportunities for professional E- learning programs at the different stages of bioprocessing;
• Identify and hire Subject Matter Experts for the E- learning professional development programs when expertise does not reside within the College;
• In collaboration with staff of the Center for Innovative Learning as well as external vendors, develop and launch of high quality E-learning products;
• Negotiate contracts and engage external vendors for the development and marketing of E-learning professional and continuing education programs;
• Work in collaboration with the Vice President of Finance to build business plans for the offering of entrepreneurial and innovative, niche E-learning professional programs
• Nurture existing relationships and form new working relationships with pharmaceutical and other health related industries;
• Develop detailed work plans for E-learning course development projects, which include key goals, timelines, and resource requirements, and provide ongoing guidance and support through project completion;
• Anticipate and address issues that may impact project resources, scheduling, scope, and delivery;
• Monitor, measure, and report on the completion of projects according to established plans and processes;
• Develop, maintain, and oversee E-learning course development contractor and vendor relationships, when applicable;
• Manage deliverable review and approval processes for E-learning programs;
• Work with academic units of the College, when necessary, to ensure course quality and compliance with legal, regulatory and industry guidelines;

Additional Responsibilities:

• Promote application of standards of excellence in online not for credit and online continuing education;
• Keep abreast of current literature and research the changing needs for professional development programs in the market place;
• Establish standards for program assessment, review data, and prepare reports required for compliance with accreditation standards when necessary;
• Ensure E-learning programs web page is up to date and accurately reflects current product offerings;
• Other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED
• Working knowledge of process analysis and project management;
• Experience in entrepreneurship in identifying niche market needs and developing appropriate courses;
• Proficiency with computer and web-based applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, and learning management systems;
• Working knowledge of technologies used in online course delivery;
• Excellent oral, visual, and written communication skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate with all levels of the college community and the ability to work across organizational boundaries;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
• Ability to manage complex tasks/projects in a timely manner with a high degree of quality;
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and manage within a rapidly changing environment;
• Demonstrated level of organizational skills, detail oriented;
• Strong problem-solving skills; flexible, resourceful, creative, and persistent
• Understanding of instructional design, course development, and marketing.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

REQUIRED
• Graduate degree in business management, education or related field from an accredited institution;
• Minimum of four (4) years of cross-functional project management/leadership experience;
• Experience managing contractor and vendor relationships;
• Experience in building partnerships with Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences Industries;
• Experience working in a distributed/ multimodal environment;

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED
• Experience in or familiarity with continuing education program development;
• Experience in pharmaceutical or other non-academic health care institutions.
