Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Research, the Director of Grants Administration has primary responsibilities in coordinating institute pre-award and compliance activities and also providing support related to cross-functional projects and initiatives, and ensuring appropriate quality assurance in all operations.

The Director submits grant applications and/or contract proposals; ensuring timely proposal submission following appropriate institutional and compliance approvals; and tracks proposals and awards.

The Director is a member in the Office of Research and Scholarly Activities and is responsible for disseminating and promoting research information and opportunities to faculty and students through posted and emailed communications. Internal promotion also includes maintenance of inter- and intranet sites, and organizational assistance with the ACPHS Annual Research Forum. Additionally, the Director provides updates to the campus community on changes in Federal and Sponsor funding guidelines.

The Director manages the Office of Grants Administration budget, compiles and prepares varied reports and analyses, plays an active role in the administration of all Intramural awards supporting faculty and student research, and assists in the review of all non-financial sponsored funds agreements.

The Director serves as the Research Compliance Officer and IRB Administrator maintaining and ensuring institute compliance with federal, state and institute guidelines. This includes ensuring that institute assurances for the IRB and for Research Misconduct maintained for both campuses. Additionally, the Director provides training, monitoring and guidance for all research compliance concerns including, but not limited to, Financial Conflict of Interest, Responsible Conduct of Research, and Human Subjects through CITI Training and other venues.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Minimum of three years federal or state pre-award experience.
Knowledge of federal regulations governing research involving human subjects and/or demonstrated IRB activities.

The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
