Position Summary

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Albany, NY (www.acphs.edu) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Assistant for a full-time appointment in the laboratory of Dr. Manish Shah within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Shah’s laboratory focuses on structure-function studies of Cytochrome P450 enzymes and their genetic variants using functional, structural and biophysical methods. Highly motivated applicants with a strong background in molecular biology, protein biochemistry and/or structural biology are encouraged to apply. Knowledge and experience in designing DNA constructs, protein expression in E. coli, purification, biochemical and biophysical analysis, crystallization and/or structure determination using X-ray crystallography is highly desirable. The candidate will be expected to stay abreast of literature, implementing new methods, and preparing manuscripts for publication.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or equivalent (for postdoctoral fellow position) with less than 3 years of experience, or B.S. in molecular biology, biochemistry or equivalent (for research assistant) with 2 or more years of experience. Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience in recombinant DNA methods, protein expression and purification from E. coli, and functional characterization are particularly encouraged to apply. The applicant must have an interest in learning new techniques and possess ability to work independently

Physical Demands
