Position Summary

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is seeking a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, for an exciting position located at the College’s Vermont Campus in Colchester, VT. The faculty member will participate in both didactic and clinical teaching with a focus on primary care medicine/family medicine. The faculty member will actively participate in the teaching mission of the College; provide appropriate service to the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) and the profession of pharmacy; and engage in scholarship relevant to the innovations they develop in pharmacy practice or teaching and learning.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
The faculty member will maintain active didactic and experiential teaching assignments and College service commiserate with rank and experience. Didactic teaching assignments will reflect the professional expertise of the faculty member and may include integrated therapeutics lectures, clinical patient- and physical assessment techniques in pharmacy skills courses, and application of knowledge in a small classroom environment. Clinical practice and experiential teaching will be coordinated with an established medical partner of the College, and afford the faculty the opportunity to provide direct-patient care services in the ambulatory environment.
Responsibilities include:
• Maintain a primary care/family medicine clinical practice with an established partner of the College
• Provide experiential education opportunities for fourth professional-year PharmD students
• Develop and deliver high-level, engaging didactic lessons within assigned courses
• Coordinate and manage the deployment of required and elective courses as assigned
• Attend/participate in monthly Department of Pharmacy Practice department meetings and other committee meetings as per assigned service
• Advise pharmacy students as assigned
• Perform teaching responsibilities as assigned by Pharmacy Practice Department Chair. These may include but are not limited to teaching MTM and Point of Care Testing certifications.
• Engage in scholarly activity relevant to their practice and teaching assignments
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy and student success initiatives.
• Knowledge of academic programming related to pharmacy education.
• Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to communicate and present information effectively to internal and external audiences.
• Ability to multi-task, develop and present workshops or training, and to advise and guide students specific to pharmacy learning opportunities.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and work ethic.
• Observes schedules and meets assignment deadlines.
• Demonstrates willingness to learn/enhance skills needed to perform responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Pharm.D.
• Eligibility for pharmacy licensure in VT
• PGY1 residency experience

Preferred Qualifications

• PGY1 residency experience, PGY2 preferred.

• Experience with delivering direct patient management and/or ambulatory practice preferred.

Physical Demands

Work Environment:
Position is in an academic practice and office environment. Faculty, staff, administrators and students enter frequently for appointments and requests for information with the faculty and other personnel in same office setting. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
