Position Summary

The Department of Pharmacy Practice at ACPHS (Albany Campus) invites applications from qualified candidates to join the College at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor for either a tenure-track or non-tenure track appointment. Therapeutic area of interest is acute care/inpatient in the area of adult internal medicine at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. The Capital Region offers numerous opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration that have a track record of success in various clinical practice sites. Non-tenure track candidates should demonstrate potential for success in teaching and clinical service. Qualified tenure-track candidates must display a strong track record in research or potential for research success. Candidates must also demonstrate strong clinical practice and interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently yet contribute to a team, good organizational skills, and a commitment to teaching.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students is expected. Didactic and small-group teaching assignments will reflect the professional expertise of the faculty member. The faculty member will maintain a clinical practice site where Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students can be precepted. College and professional service is expected. The faculty member will establish an Interprofessional practice at Albany Medical Center Hospital in conjunction with Albany Medical College (AMC) faculty. This practice will develop an Interprofessional educational experience as a clinical teaching site for ACPHS PharmD students and AMC medical students. Tenure track faculty members will develop and maintain an independent research program in a focused area. Tenure-track candidates will be placed in clinical practice sites conducive to conducting their research and take a reduced load of core APPE students and have the potential to offer longitudinal and traditional APPE research rotations.

Responsibilities include:
• Provide experiential education opportunities for fourth professional-year PharmD students at a clinical practice site
• Develop and deliver high-level, engaging didactic lessons within assigned courses
• Coordinate and manage the deployment of required and elective courses as assigned
• Attend/participate in monthly Department of Pharmacy Practice department meetings and other committee meetings as per assigned service
• Advise pharmacy students as assigned
• Perform teaching responsibilities as assigned by Pharmacy Practice Department Chair.
• Tenure-track candidates: develop and maintain an independent research program in a focused area that includes actively seeking extramural funding and publication
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of teaching and learning pedagogy and student success initiatives.
• Knowledge of academic programming related to pharmacy education.
• Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to communicate and present information effectively to internal and external audiences.
• Ability to multi-task, develop and present workshops or training, and to advise and guide students specific to pharmacy learning opportunities.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and work ethic.
• Observes schedules and meets assignment deadlines.
• Demonstrates willingness to learn/enhance skills needed to perform responsibilities

Required Qualifications

1. Pharm.D.

2. Eligibility for pharmacy licensure in New York within 6 months of date of hire.

3. Post-doctoral PGY1 and PGY2 residency and/or research fellowship

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (Ph.D., MS) desirable, particularly for tenure-track candidates.

Physical Demands

Position requires that a substantial amount of work is completed sitting at a computer or laptop. The employee regularly communicates with other personnel via telephone, in person and e-mail. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Regular travel to and from the clinical practice site and College campus can be expected.
