Position Summary

Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences athletic department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the full-time position of Head Athletic Trainer. This 10 month position includes the oversight of all phases of sports medicine for intercollegiate programs and student-athletes, including the care, prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The College currently sponsors eight men’s and women’s varsity athletic programs: cross-country, soccer, basketball and track and field. ACPHS is a member of the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

Areas of Responsibility:
o All aspects of injury, illness and rehabilitation management and related documentation/records for student athletes;
o Coordination of pre-participation physicals with appropriate medical professionals;
o Oversees coverage of all practices and events; which includes appropriate communication with visiting teams;
o Coordination of First Aid/CPR certification of coaches and the maintenance of these records;
o Assist coaches in the development of strength and conditioning programs, as requested;
o Prepares annual report based on logged injuries and evaluation of program;
o Maintains appropriate documentation related to all operations of Sports Medicine to include the Emergency Action Plan and relevant sections of department handbooks;
o Abide by New York State laws regarding scope of practice and patient confidentiality parameters and comply with NATA Board of Certification “Standards of Professional Practice;”
o All other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Physical Education or related discipline.
NATA/BOC certification, New York State license and CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
